The device and method are intended for mobile ground objects location definition.

Serial production of “Azimuth” complex navigation equipment for mobile ground objects. The developed autonomous navigation magnetic system with orientation by the Earth's magnetic field and metrical track account uses invention by patent ¹ 2202102.

“Azimuth” provides the following navigation parameters definition:

1) plane rectangular geodesic parameter (geographical coordinates) of mobile ground objects (MGO) location in coordinate system ÑS-42;

2) directional angle (azimuth) of MGO longitudinal axis;

3) MGO tilt angles in longitudinal and diametrical planes;

4) moving speeds and meanings of traversed path.

Besides the unit provides continuous distance issue to operator by the set route up to the next control route point. It also allows MGO movement azimuth definition, information exchange with on-board PC via serial port by protocol NMEA-0183, operation by operator choice in any system: autonomous, GLONASS/GPS using ñ PT-code signals (GLONASS) and GPS Ñ/À-code or complex one.

“Azimuth” unit was awarded gold medals of World scientific discoveries exhibition “Brussels-Eureka” in 1994 and 2001.
