In EW¹ forces the sample of EW SCTS² control subsystem was successfully trialed. The unit was created by JSC “Concern “Sozvezdie” designers.

The subsystem includes specialized software and hardware complexes (SHC³), unified command and staff vehicles (UCSV⁴) and electronic countermeasure equipment located in forces. UCSV R-149MA1 is used for formation of EW brigade control point. For EW company control RP-330KPV-K unit was created. Electronic countermeasure equipment includes jamming stations R-378BM and R-330BMV from EW complexes composition which are used in EW forces. During the subsystem development the concern designers succeeded in increasing the level of officials’ activities automation at all control levels of EW subsystems and means. “The level of automation realized in the sample is quite high, - notes V.N. Osmak, the head of the department where the main work was done. – During the functioning of control subsystem in EW brigade CP⁵ and EW company CP the whole range of tasks is solved which provide automation of main control functions”.

When the design and development project “Silitsiy-2” was carried out the designers decided not only tactical and technical tasks but also took into consideration all the changes in the RF armed forces. For example, transition to the brigade structure of the RF armed forces led to elimination of the separate EW battalion the main functions of which are passed to EW company. That is why the composition of EW SCTS control subsystem was changed. Instead of EW separate battalion command point on two mobile SHC (intended for commander operation and separate battalion headquarters) a mobile control point of the company commander. RP-330KPV-K unit is universal by the design: control point of the company commander provides control not only of the present EW complexes but also of the new complex “Borisoglebsk-2” the trials of which finished in the end of 2010. Moreover, when the complex control point fails the mobile company control point allows direct control of jamming stations and it increases considerable the reliability of the control subsystem. What is important that technical solutions realized in RP-330KPV-K unit during the equipment upgrade provide counteraction with EW perspective systems and complexes?

However, the concern designers note with sadness one problem which arises during learning of new equipment. Young soldiers who work with such complicated complex of information and calculating tasks hardly have time to go through the necessary training and their service in the army already finishes. In designers’ opinion the knowledge volume required to operator at initial data input (the data which participates in the process of EW subsystems functioning) should be reduced. In their opinion it is also important to continue creating software and hardware means for task solution support by officials when they carry out combat tasks.
